APB – brilliant concept that unfortunately is not well developed

All Points Bulletin is a third person shooter and MMO. The boys of Realtime Worlds, Crackdown known, were convinced that mixing two genres a good outcome. Do they convince us?
Often, we tremble when we have reviewed an MMO. If there is a genre where the games at launch just to play often, then it is to MMO’s. All Points Bulletin has this problem in any case, the game runs well and everything seems to work. Unfortunately, by this game in other ways wrong.
Let us start with what a game really is APB. The idea is brilliant. When the first information started to flow in this game, because it seemed that a sort of GTA online would be. That alone is a great idea. The founder of Realtime Worlds, David Jones, is the same man who made the original Grand Theft Auto has helped create. Moreover, let the studio with Crackdown see they can make good games. We were at least enthusiastic.
The game takes place in San Paro, a fictional city that is completely at odds. Gangs do what they want, the police are completely out of control and citizens can help catch crooks (as cabs). When the game starts, you can choose from two groups. The good guys, Enforcers, are the citizens who are tired and want to sweep up the city. You can also choose the side of the criminals. After creating your character you get a tutorial presented somewhat thin and it is up to you to be famous or just notorious San Paro.
Match makingThe strongest point of this game is that you actively have to find other players, chase and shooting to prevent them from missions to complete your mission or halted. Your opponents are chosen through a pretty nice match making system, which ensures that the players are all about equally good or that one of the teams more than the other players at skill-gap to make up. The game knows how good you are by analyzing how fast you do your missions and how good you are at shooting.
It is the system of shooting that APB as first his mouth, and yet more than one MEA appears to be a shooter, because it just feels wrong. This is mainly because it does not matter where you touch the other players. In all cases, you cause the same damage. So no headshots. Because of this feeling very stiff in shootings. Also driving around does not feel quite right. It is difficult to describe, but it looks like the game a bit too slow to react when you send.
However, APB also fun. If you’re a good team of four or more men a group of criminals chased by the city to finally have a big shoot out in a garage, then you still get a smile on your face. All missions are soon gone, and with a great team and daring opponents will you in the beginning you never get bored. Often the missions so that as soon as both teams at some point there must be for something to steal or protect, with the result that many hectic moments you experienced.
Unfortunately, there simply is not enough to do. The game has only two zones and both have only a few hours (maybe ten hours if you do it quietly) on various missions. What is again developed well, is to adjust your character and your vehicle. You can really change everything and make sure you’ve a unique look. So if you fall when you actually walk down the street. There are also many upgrades, new weapons and gadgets available.
No MMO feeling
APB fails so as shooter, but also as a MMO game can not deliver. A strong point of MMO games is that you feel part of something big, with many players you are working with each other and together various missions / quests to accomplish. All Points Bulletin is missing in this sense. You’ll be other players and there is always something to see, but more than a few dozen will not come. This, plus there are not enough missions, makes the game a little MMO proposes.
All Points Bulletin is a brilliant concept that unfortunately is not well developed. The two main elements that could make this game well – namely, driving and shooting – do not good with the result that only a moderate APB game with little content. Yet the game can be enjoyable, if only for a moment. You get fifty hours playing time when you buy the game (the more you buy gaming) and fifty hours is more than enough to do everything twice and never looking back.
