Batheo Rips off Chinese Browser Game Dynasty Saga Poorly Executed

Only a glimpse at the fantasy world of Batheo, you find something quirky and fishy. From the gaming concept, the underlying story flows, the graphic design all the way to the core game play, everything here in this seemingly alien dimension speaks about a knock-out of the Chinese 2D strategy web browser game Dynasty Saga, laced only with a tinge of magic and mythology. Well, I am not being judgmental here. A re-do doesn’t necessarily come off bad, and sometimes, if sucking in or even growing on the beauties of the original, could also possibly turn out to be a delight to both eyes and minds.

We certainly see in Batheo quite a few qualities to make a fairly good MMO title, which may, by the end of the day, not only offer Three-Kingdom fans a rehearsal of those epic fighting and conquering stuff they couldn’t possibly grow tired of, but also allow those who never get hands on this ‘historical fantasy’ kinds before a totally fresh thrill and enjoyment.

To this point, the backbone is all there. A small city, as you may well see coming, is where everything gets blossomed from. Upgrades and expansions is of course what matters the most and what pretty much all your rival players are driving at through war fighting, economic propelling, and tie-forging with neighbors. World map, even vaster and more exploration-bounded than that in Dynasty Saga, unrolls with more uncharted territories and challenges as your power and ambitions grows on each other.

Well, it may be a no-brainer to figure out all that Batheo is up to even before playing, but don’t underestimate the toughness ahead when it comes to the real gaming part, where you are expected to blaze a new trail out of all trodden paths and build from scratch a great empire that know no boundaries in both size and influence.

The joining of monsters, magic and other immortal powers in mankind’s scuffle complicates things a lot. It’s far from enough to keep a lookout only for sharp spikes, flying arrows, or some stabs in back. Witches and evil priests could kill your strongest generals or even level the whole city out only with a twist of their lips. So apart from all the military tactics you wield smoothly in Dynasty Saga, you got to also give your troops a bit training on magic and at the same time, prepare for all the impossible!

Features:

Batheo, clearly a copycat MMO with borrowed concepts, not-quite-surprising gaming contents and fair–to-muddling graphics, though standing for little chance of excellence, could all possibly get nodded by war-thirsty gamers.

There are several bright spots though, like a persistent fantasy world, strong customization backup, large class bases and detailed combat system.

For those eager for instant battles and overnight fames and find Dynasty Saga boring, Batheo wouldn’t be so bad a choice anyway.

  1. Well written but not surprising.

  2. No, the Chinese haven’t ripped off any American intellectual material, have they?

    NEVER!

  3. Actually its not a ripoff. The game is developed by the same people that developed the chinese version. Dynasty Saga is not the chinese version of Batheo. I know this for a fact because I play Batheo and we have the level 140 map update. Dynasty Saga doesn’t have any of the updates and it seems that the developers stopped on that particular game. It is actually a different Chinese game that Batheo comes from that had been translated to English, French, Spanish and German. The major difference is that Batheo is not based on Chinese Mythology instead it is based on Greek Mythology.
