Lord of Ultima Review

One of the great, classic brands of the video game industry is back: Ultima. But instead of Richard Garriott this time, Volker Wertich EA Phenomic is involved in the game …
Ultima Online is not mentioned about eleven years since last time we were allowed to control our Alter Ego in Britannia. That changes with Lord of Ultima, because instead of an RPG you can expect a title in the style of SimCity, and your journey takes you, not even to Britannia, but according to Caledonia, a new country that was created when the super-continent broke Sosaria.
SimUltima?Your counselor will lead you through the first steps in Lord of Ultima – and by the way it reminds of me in “Star Wars: Episode 2″.
But let us leave the details: Have you registered for an account, you will be the ruler of a city and be briefed by a detailed tutorial in the game. Spontaneously Lord of Ultima recalls you a little of a mix of SimCity and ANNO: You build your city in a variety of buildings that you provide either raw materials such as wood, stone, iron or food, or serve to increase production but also the recruitment of your armies by which you can make expeditions into the dangerous dungeons, and cities or attack another player or that you defend against them.
You never fight alone, but you can also enter into alliances with other gamers to chat, and interact. It should be mentioned here that your building is strictly limited and it is very slow to upgrade cities – First buildings erected quickly, subsequent expeditions lasted for about a day – It is not a good idea for those who choose not to invest too much time. Of course there are also a Lord of Ultima Itemshop in which you can purchase on the one hand, and also you can do some tasts and get rewarded handsomely, and also you can use powerful artifacts that bring very positive effects with it. However, Mana, which is limited availability, their influence on the game keeps success but – fortunately – within limits.
I wonder, however, whether EA has not only link Ultima closely to make the game – with the classic series. I personaly believe The title means title, not suggesting it has been closely bound up with the Ultima Online. After all, Lord of Ultima is a browser strategy game that did little innovations and originality.
I’d ranther speak to EA:
Dear EA, When will we see next another decent role playing game in Ultima real universe?
