War of Ninja Review

So far I am pretty impressed by the Japan style War of Ninja, which is most definitely an improvement over its progenitors. I like the way the missions are set up. Being accessible from the in game window, saves the hassle of having to have a separate browser open just to check mission status. I am also enjoying the character diversity. Different characters having different HP adds a minor strategic element to squad design. Customizing each with items just adds on to the feeling of control and personalization. The database of compiled squads is a good idea, though Im early in the game, and really have no use for it yet.
Hmm what else, oh yea. Being able to view your opponents character skills is definitely useful, though I have not been utilizing it as I should, when I come against chars I have not seen before. Nonetheless it is a good idea being able to quickly refresh your knowledge have an enemy character.
Well there you go, its a quick review. I am sure Ill have some good ideas to share, as well as some critiques, but for now Im going to play the game a little more, before I get to in depth with that sort of thing.
Likes:
Artwork: Character art was nicely done. It looks professional.
Items: The items add variety to the game, which is excellent.
The Story: It isn’t the most original thing I’ve read.
-A team of heroes travel the world in an effort to save it. The heroes make allies along the way, enabling the player to create different teams with characters they managed to unlock.
Like I said, it isn’t original, but it does follow a certain gaming tradition and it serves its purpose. You also made it your own, which is a big plus.Variable HP: I like it, it helps balance the characters out according to their respective skills. It’s also a refreshing change from Naruto Arena.
Missions: I love how their objectives and the player’s progress is displayed in-game rather than on a separate page. I also like the fact that none of them have level requirements. New players can have just as many characters as more experienced players do just by taking out the time to complete missions before entering the arena.
Dislikes:
Chat Feature: I don’t hate chatting, but I think the in-game chat feature is unnecessary. The game is timed, which leaves little room for conversation. The majority of the people who use it beg for surrenders and any chat conversation that doesn’t involve a person asking for a handout is brief. It’s not like I plan to stick around long enough to get to know my opponent as insensitive as that might sound.
, i’ll make a simple pro and con list of the game, some having a little suggestion of what I personally think you could do, or maybe just a comparison for all the people unfamiliar with SA/NA.
Pros!(Good stuff.)
-Items: With items, chances of you facing the SAME guy on your team with the SAME item is VERY slim, which makes most battles unique and tough to make a strat. with, meaning you can’t have a solid team that is cheap, without someone being your accidental kryptonite (I’m talking to you pre-nerft Luppi, Komamura and Kisuke! -Shakes fist.- )
-New HP system: A GREAT idea, my favorite if not one of the unique things this arena has to offer, i’m sure many people (myself included) thought that this should be implemented A LONG time ago on the SA/NA systems, but I see why it would be impossible to do. Simply due to the fact that people will complain “Wai iz tousen haz highr hpz thn ichigo, his main charater!!!one11!!!” Where as here, nobody has a pre-conceived notion that Omoi should have lower HP than Shotaro because we don’t KNOW the character, we just have to assume the creator is right in their personal judgment.
Story Mode/Map set up: I will keep this one short and sweet due to the potential length of this whole post ( SORRY MODS! ). The story itself albeit a tad cliché and some things here and there I see in comparison to Naruto and some Bleach (As well as a few other anime/manga titles.) I see it exceeding expectations, but i’ll talk about the rest in cons. As for map, it’s fantastic, the story itself flows fairly well, characters are easier to unlock than NA/SA (matter of opinion.) it’s smooth transition from village to village is nice. (At least on my PC.)
Chat box: GREAT stuff, all though it’s annoying when 60% of the conversation is “Surrender plz!!?” and the other 40% is “LOL I totally pwn’d you thar!”
Cons (Bad stuff D: )
Chat box: Seriously, for the 1000000000000000th time, i’m not surrendering.
Story/originality: The story can be kinda boring at times, I find myself in some situations just skipping through it, avid anime/manga readers/watchers can see what i’m talking about when it’s a tad bit cliché though it IS beta, they need to work on a solid story so I find myself coming back for more. I was kinda hoping for a modern day type of feel maybe within the range of The Persona titles, as in modern day teens-adult characters? Of course this is being hypocritical because here I am saying don’t copy and now saying copy.
My MAIN point being, we have a samurai arena (bleach) and we already have a ninja arena (naruto) I was expecting maybe one piece or hitman reborn! so this custom game is a great idea, just wasn’t expecting…ninjas again…although…who is…?
